LEADERSHIP: What Are Your Biggest Personal Improvements?

#QualityLeadership #FreeThinking #EOT #PCC #EffectiveLeadership #CARE #GiveADamn

Everyone can find something about themselves to improve, even people in leadership positions.

We know a few things about people:

  • No one is perfect; all of us are human, thus fallible.
  • Each of us has opportunities for personal growth.
  • All of us are capable of self-integrity and personal growth. We just have to be honest with ourselves about our shortcomings.
  • The only person we have to be honest with is the person in the mirror.
  • In order to begin our personal refinement journey, it is necessary for us to identify and acknowledge our personal shortcomings a.ka. weaknesses a.k.a. growth opportunities.

While we only have to be honest with ourselves, sharing self-improvements could help other people to admit their shortcomings to themselves to begin their personal growth journey.

{

My biggest growth opportunities have been showing compassion and not taking life too serious. Having been raised by products of baby boomers and enduring tough growing pains, I’m not a natural comforter and I’m a bit of a hard-ass at times. Accepting feedback from friends and colleagues, I am steadily enhancing my ability to show compassion. My display of compassion to other people shows them that I understand, I get it. The other biggest improvement I have made over the years is not to take life too seriously. Not taking life and situations too seriously has enabled me to work better under pressure and to have more fun – I work hard and play hard.

What are your biggest personal improvements?

The better we are for ourselves, the better we naturally become for others, including our team and organization.
